At age 17, this Caborca native helped to defend Caborca against Henry Crabb and the filibusteros in 1857. He went on to be the first secretary to Mexican President Benito Juarez and helped to start the Mexican National Railroad.
His grandson plans to visit the Fiestas de 6 de Abril that commemorate the 1857 event of the defense of Caborca.
