Taco Shops – Taquerias – in Caborca

By far the most common and popular of restaurants and roadside eateries, taquerias are so named because they make one of Mexico’s most favorite foods – the taco.

A taco is a simple food, consisting of a filling placed in a tortilla (made of flour or corn) which is then folded and eaten. Taco fillings can be anything from simple refried beans to carne asada, chicken, fish or shrimp.

Then, you add the salsa, guacamole, lettuce, cilantro, tomatoes, and whatever other accoutrements you like. And don’t forget to squeeze the juice from a fresh lime onto the taco before you fold the tortilla and eat it. And for those who like it spicy, a grilled jalapeno adds just the right flavor.

Taquerias come in all shapes and sizes, from a simple grill on the back of a cart to a large restaurant. The street taquerias usually start lighting their coals around 6:00 or 7:00 p.m., ready to serve a delicious evening dinner.
