Over 400 Kilos of Cocaine Seized Near Caborca; One Person Arrested
Federal and state security forces seized more than 400 kilograms of cocaine during an operation on Federal Highway 2, along the Caborca–Sonoyta corridor.
The seizure was carried out as part of ongoing surveillance efforts coordinated through the State Security Task Force (Mesa Estatal de Seguridad). Participating agencies included Mexico’s Federal Attorney General’s Office (FGR) and personnel from the 45th Military Zone.
How Were the Drugs Hidden?
Authorities intercepted a white Kenworth tractor-trailer pulling two refrigerated cargo trailers. During inspection, officers discovered 400 packages of cocaine concealed among vacuum-sealed boxes of frozen fish
Investigators reported that the shipment originated in the state of Chihuahua and was destined for the city of Tijuana.
Arrest and Legal Status
The driver of the vehicle was detained at the scene. He was identified as Jared Antonio “N.” The suspect was turned over to the Federal Public Ministry.
Authorities are investigating his possible connection to drug trafficking networks operating in northern Mexico.
Government Response
Sonora Governor Alfonso Durazo highlighted the importance of coordination between federal and state forces.
“Thanks to joint efforts between federal and state security forces, we continue to obtain results that prevent illicit substances from reaching our streets and putting our youth at risk,” he stated.
Officials indicated that security operations and monitoring will continue in strategic areas such as Caborca to strengthen safety across the region.
