The “Hill of the Virgin,” near Caborca, is a shrine to the Virgin of Guadalupe, Mexico’s patron saint. This roadside sacred site is located five miles west of of Caborca on state highway 37.
The shrine is a sacred place where the faithful come to climb the steps and worship, pray, meditate and give thanks to the Virgin of Guadalupe.
Services and celebrations are also held there on December 12, when visitors walk along the highway to the shrine, where a festival is celebrated that features a mass, traditional dance, food, and reverence to Virgin Mary of Guadalupe
